Open first ? then delete?

Why do I have to open my email before I delete it? I used to be able to delete if I did not want to open it, it really is risky to have to open everything first!!!

Aol wants us to pay before they make it convenient....

Good question.  Why *do* you have to open messages before deleting them?  I don't.  I just select the message and click the Delete button.  If that doesn't work for you then please describe your experience in more detail.

BTW, if you use AOL or webmail to view your messages there is little risk in opening mail (especially if you don't use IE).
