I have a cheap imitation NuWave oven and was successful in using it as an air popper.
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy05fnRAAgI
I put the popcorn without oil on the top rack in a shallow pan small enough for popped corn to blow out and fall between the pan and and bowl of the oven. (I used the lid of the smallest Lodge cast iron skillet.
Don't use oil! If it starts a fire, your dome heating element and possibly your whole house will be toast.
The corn in the video was really old, but nearly kernel popped. Some blew unpopped into the bottom of the oven bowl.
