What can I do?!!!!!!!!!!

what to do If a past employer is giving you a bad work reference? They accused me of trying to steal one of ther patients and threatened me with there legal council! then fired me! they want except my phone calls and they want return my calls, so I have no idea who the client  in question is , in fact I dont have a anwser to anything. I have been trying to get another job and cant even get an interview. Please help!!!! My nursing career is on the line! Thanks Shelia  sjj9448@aol.com

What State are you in? In California they could be in big trouble for doing that. All they can say is "Yes, she worked here"  Set up a sting. Have someone call them for a check on you and see what they say, then use them to go to court  and explain what they did.

Shelia, contact your State Labor Board.  In my State...the only legal question is:  Would you rehire this person ?

But...in any regards...your former employer...must surely...be able to prove any unfavorable statement... they make about you !!!

They can't just say things unless they are documented by fact. If this is the case, you need to see a lawyer, the sooner the better. Let the lawyer advise you what to do. DO NOT do anything else until you speak to a lawyer and do only what he/she says.
