Hey Cindy, I can tell you about NC. You have to see the job posted on the state site, which is a link from the NC state page. There is a state application that you must fill out and send in before the posting deadline. You have to include all of your work history. In NC I know that they post positions as survey coordinators for social workers, dieticians and nurses. Not sure about any other disciplines. You can't just send in an application, you have to have a job # that you are responding to. Resumes are NOT accepted by the state for state positions. Right now there is not much available in NC, due to budget issues. I have applied for surveyor positions for rest homes and nursing facilities, but haven't landed one yet. Still looking. Job entails significant travel as the QIS survey takes at least 4 days on site. Don't know about other states, as the requirements vary. Here they want a solid nursing background, usually want a batchelor's degree and/or experience. Need to be able to work as a team member and independently. Need good organizational and communication skills. Also need pc proficiency in Word and some Excel. In NC there is a typing test and composition test using Word. Hope that this helps. You could contact your state dept. of health and senior services to ask about requirements and opportunities available in your state. Good luck

I'm not crazy!?

you need the proper qualifications: a license, a certificate and experience in the field.

I have heard a little about traveling nurses and seen ads for them. Do

In my own opinion, that may depend on the company you are applying for. as long as you have enough years of experience.
