Nice guys sometimes do finish first in love.  Even short nice guys.  But often a girl decides she wants someone exciting, someone who can dominate other men.  Then she finds that he wants to dominate and control her, sometimes physically.  If she's lucky she gets out of the relationship before getting married.  Then maybe she will look for a nice guy.

Nice people finish first, by simply being ... well...nice.

Courtesy; friendliness; kindness; honesty;   These are some of the traits of a nice guy.  If he adheres to these, finishing first will occur.
