On the news years ago, there was a metallic sphere with strange writing that washed up on shore in South Carolina. Now I can't find anything about it. Does anyone have information about it?

it was shiny metal and spherical, maybe 18 inches to 2 feet in diameter. And it had writing on it clearly visible, but they didn't know what language it was.
