Are you using a mobile device or an email client to read your AOL mail? This commonly happens when that external reader tells the AOL server that the mail has been read, so it is moved to the Old Mail folder. A Unified Inbox may help if you are using another reader and want to keep its settings:

Hey Mat - what part don't you understand? It may be in my mailbox but I'M NOT RECEIVING ANY. I CANNOT SEE ANY NEW MAIL. NONE SINCE MONDAY 11/15 AT 1:00. NO MAIL. NADA. SO HOW CAN I CHECK ANYTHING YOU OR ANYONE ELSE HAS SENT ME? FIX THE F'ING PROBLEM ALREADY.
