Sammie, maybe the reason she didn't respond is that people have been responding to you for quite a while, and it doesn't seem to help you.  You need to do this on your own; all the sincere words here from the posters giving you the reasons why you should do will not change the fact that we cannot do it for you.  If we could, I would definitely do it for you since it's so simple.  The first thing you MUST do is stop drinking--it might have a lot to do with your fears.  Have you even told your doctor about how frightened you are, and asked him for something to help you?  If, after all this time, you can't bring yourself to go and get your colonscopy, I think it's time to realize it's not going to happen.  Put it out of your mind, don't go, and if you get colon cancer, at that point, you'll have two choices--do the extremely painful treatment, or die.

Sometimes we put up walls not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.

UR193,

   I totally agree with you.Smile

Be honest and be true to yourself.

Me three!  We've heard enough about your fears. It's time to tell us how you fannied up and did it.  Or, cancelled the whole thing!  We've been there, done that.  Now, it's your turn. Get on with it!!!

Me too.

URI, does Sammie remind you of someone else on these pages?

Sammie, it is time to PAY ATTENTION!

Either suck it up and get it done or shut up about it. Yes, we all care. We have all tried to help. You won't listen.

Quit whining and start listening to yourself. Look into A.A. and learn how to be your own friend, for a change. At this point, fear of a colonoscopy is the least of your problems.

Get busy and get going. And after you do, let us know how you are. We'll be more than happy to hear what you have to say - so long as it's something NEW.

AA is a 12 step program. It is called that for good reason. You must take the steps to lead you on the right path. I have been doing alot of work on myself lately and have alot of things to deal with. Don't take it personal if I don't get to a question because sometimes stuff just happens in life. Time takes time.

Due to numerous medical problems, I have had to face some very unpleasant moments and had to make some painful decisions. I too had to have a colonoscopy, and by putting this into perspective; it was one of the easiest tests I had to do. I know that each one of us is different, and each one of us has our own fears, but the longer you put this off, the worst it will be for you. Look at what other has told you, try to pull yourself together, and move on with your life before it completely overwhelms you.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.
