Your application would require 6-3 G AWG Cu and remote grounding at the distant breaker panel.  You must not attempt to substitute the grounding rods for a neutral.  NEC requires that you run this line into a breaker panel, not merely terminate in a junction box with outlets.  If the cable will be on the ground or buried, you must use UF line which is rated for direct burial.

Although 12-3 AWG  Cu cable is rated for 20 amperes in runs up to 50', you are going much farther than that and will need the larger conductor to avoid line voltage drop. 

Obama's program is not working. That is why you aren't, either, or soon won't be.

Tadpole, considering your ineptitude with most things, you would have a great deal of difficulty getting in a class for the National Electrical Code.  There are two divisions of license (I hold one).  Can you tell me what those divisions are and how one would pass the test, meet the tenure requirements, and comply with annual recertification?

In the last 14 hours we started off with Rocmike's aliases Renner with a couple posts followed by  The Actual Paul Wittenberg 3 hours, Bob Suffolk 6 hours, Rick Barnett 2 hours, Stressed 2 hours and Dr. Kelly 1 hour and still posting. We also had Rocmike's anonymous thrown in there. All repeating the same thing over and over and using the word Atheist. This happens every single day. Rocmike is in serious need of mental help and a life.
