I'm not sure what kind of sand you're looking for but if you have any reptile supply stores in your area you'll find they often sell "reptile sand" in 10-pound bags. I think it's finer & smoother than beach sand but maybe it would work for you anyway.

Thanks, ended up w/ 50# bag from Lowes.  Put it on the bottom of my cart.  Bag had a small hole in it which left a fine trail of sand everywhere I went until I noticed it while loading it into my car.  nice.
