In my 2002 towncar I'm hearing a rapid knocking ...

In my 2002 towncar I'm hearing a rapid knocking sound from somewhere under the driver side door,when I turn the motor off, just as I remove the key. No dash indicators nor any degradation in the ride or suspension. Please help before this becomes costly.

the best and cheapest way to find out the source of the noise it to put the car on a lift

and have a person under the car pin pointing the source of noise
