Can you have MRSA in the Bladder or your kidney's and never could find out only from a swab test? And if so what would be the sign's of it in the kidney and bladder? Thank's so much Sheila

MRSA can show up just about anywhere.  Usually it is done by a culture in your case a urine culture could show it or blood cultures could show it in your blood which circulates through every part of your body.  You may have typical UTI (urinary tract infection) symptoms such as burning when you urinate or a severe backache over the area of your kidneys.  My suggestion is to go to your PCP and tell him/her what you suspect and that you may have been exposed to it.  Mostly MRSA is an opportunistic disease and you see it in debilitated people who have an illness or are hospitalized with a severe debilitating illness.  I am exposed to it everyday and as long as I use good handwashing techniques and the patient who is usually on isolation if it is in an open wound, I wear isolation gear especially gloves if touching the wound or re-dressing it.  It is hard to catch if you are healthy, however I don't know why you are asking so it is hard to tell what your exposure risk is.  It is a Staph infection resistant to the antibiotic Methicillin but their are other drugs that are used to fight it that have worked just as well.  Good luck to you.  The only way you'll know is to have the appropriate tests ordered by a Doctor.  Good Luck, my guess is if you are healthy and not exposed you don't have it.  Let me know what you find out, I'll be following the post.   Smile

Thank's so much, I do know I have MRSA and was so afraid, but now it's alittle better from getting some answer's here, I have a realy bad infection in the kidney's and bladder, and the med's I am on is called "Vancomycin"  it's better for me because I do have MRSA in my body, I don't understand MRSA but that would be another QUESTION some other time, hopeing to be feeling better in a few day.  THANK'S SO MUCH..Sheila

Vancomycin is the one drug given IV that can have a chance against MRSA.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!!
