Mri or echo

My doctor would like me to get an MRI of the heart to check on my Aeortic Valve? I guess that is how you would spell it.  I don't have good Health insurance, what is better and cheaper an Echo or an MRI I know the MRI is about 2700.00 but that does not include the doctor to read it.  would and Echo be just as good?
