What is a recommended manufacture for children mountain bikes?

As long as your child is well protected and controlling the bikes well I think that 8-9 is reasonably age for letting your child mountain biking. The rule thumb in my opinion for choosing the right route is the one that wouldn't demand any special physical effort from you, and also be responsible enough for choosing nice weather that wouldn't be too hot or cold.

According to your child's height you should choose the wheel diameter.

A very good company here in the UK is Falcon not sure if they have them in your area wherever you are.
