Contact your bank to find out.  Each bank pays different rates...most are less than 1% right now on savings accounts.  If you can afford to have that much in savings, it would be more profitable to invest in a long term CD.  With the way the economy is right now, I would not trust the stock market to expect a gain in profit from investing.
