Hi guys

As you may have noticed, I have started a little excitement involving spleef by instigating minor league teams. There are a lot of questions being asked at the moment about EVERYTHING that's involved with spleefing and these so called 'Corps' and cities and what not, so here are a few frequently asked questions regarding the whole thing.

What the hell is a 'Spleef'??

Spleefing is a player vs. player sporting event. I could not tell you who invented it, google is YOUR friend, not mine. The aim of the game is to run around with shovels and try to dig the ground out from under your opponents, causing them to fall into a pit.

Pit? You mean like.. am I gonna die??
It's possible. Some arenas have a surprise waiting at the bottom. Feel free to ask the arena master, but they don't have to tell you!

Ok ok, sounds fun, where do I sign up? What are the teams?
The way I have it set up currently is that there are 10 minor league teams. Each of these teams is a color. The colors are listed in the official thread, which you should've read before continuing this post. Each of those colors has either a black or white outline, this is dictated in certain game types (more info in the next question). There are going to be 4 major league teams in the future, as well. These pertain to the Corps of the server (more info in a later question, don't worry). To sign up, please contact a captain of each team.

Wait, white and black? Game types? WTF???
The white and black thing actually only refers to one game type, the Minor League 1 v 1 free for all. In this game type, white teams will always play against white and black will always play against black. Four white guys, four white guys playing against each other. More info on ladders later. What is the difference between Major and Minor leagues?
There will be different rules, listed later.

When does the Major League begin?
Major League games are going to begin after Minor League season one has ended, and the fire teams have picked five players for their teams.

Why five players? What's up with that?
Right now, I'm still waiting for the teams to fill. The minimum and maximum amount of players needed per team is 5, since there is a 5 v 5 game type. I'm capping it at 5 for each team until they're all capped, for this reason: I don't want people picking favorites. I want people to be able to play the game. The sooner we get the teams full, the sooner the season can start. EVERYONE should be involved with getting people to join their team, and once their team is full, they should direct them to teams that aren't full.

What is the difference between the game types and their arenas???
Generally, a 1 v 1 FFA is going to have the smallest arena, and the other arenas are going to increase exponentially.

What's the deal with the Corps?
The Corps stemmed from an idea in this thread [link]. Basically, on our server, there are now four Corps. They were formally known as Nations, but there are also countries on our server, and this can be confusing for some, so Corps has been officially adopted as the name. These are the Fire Corps, Air Corps, Water Corps, and Earth Corps.

How do I join "x" Corps?
You have to get into contact with their leaders! To the best of my knowledge at this time, these are who I know are the main guys for each Corps are:

Earth: Trogdorto, Rugrast, Westcoast_gamer
Fire: tfl4me, aoa2003, DragonCz
Air: Lostuser
Water: Mrgreenslurpee, Ravenheart

So how do to the Corps and Spleef tie together?
Oh I'm so happy you have finally asked. Here's the deal:

Right now, we're in the minor league preseason. The minor league teams have to fill up before I officially start the season. I'm currently working on a schedule. Right now, there are 10 minor league teams. When this season starts, there will be a pre season, a regular season, and a post season tournament ladder with the top 6 teams from the season, based on standings. The preseason will be very short and will allow for players to make bets! Doesn't this sound excting? Anyway. After this season is complete, the Leaders of each Corps are going to choose their teams. These are going to be the Major League Spleef Clubs. Players may subject Spleef Scouts to bribes, salaries, etc, just like IRL. There is to be NO drama. Your word is your word. If you come to an official decision ("I won't be on your team unless you give me 5 diamonds" "Okay" "Okay") then that is the official decision. Also, staff will not get involved with these issues unless they extend to breaking a server rule.

Do I have to be a member of "x" corps to be on the "x" major league team?
No. You can be a fire team member and be on the air team. I personally think it would be a lot more honorable to choose from your own Corps, though. It will generate a lot of passion for your team from your Corps!

What's the benefit of being in a Corps?
You have a group of people that you can associate with! You have your own major league team that you can root for! You can have crazy parties that are exclusive to your corps! Right now pvp is off and griefing is NOT allowed, so any malicious activity between Corps is UNACCEPTABLE. This is all for FUN, not for rivalries, drama, etc. PLEASE keep this in mind. The server rules always apply!

Is there an official zone for Spleefing?
Yes, Windfall is being built into a Spleefing city. There is mine cart access to the city from spawn. Please ask Darkzero413 for assistance! The city is still being built. All Spleef arenas are going to be the official size for each game type. Feel free to make your own Spleef arenas to practice/have fun with though!

What makes an arena an Air/Water/Fire/Earth arena?
OK, here's my idea:

Fire arenas would fall into lava
Air arenas would fall from a great height into water
Earth arenas would be on the ground, underground and fall either a great way down onto solid ground or a small distance into lava
Water arenas would fall into water, similar to earth, but instead of dying, you would live.

Otherwise, the fact that your arena is a 'x' arena is entirely up to you.

What about official games, will those result in death?
I'm leaning towards no, but you never know [/b]


What's going on with announcers?
I'm the announcer right now! Offkilter will be a ref/announcer as well. We will be recording the wins, losses, and ties for each team and each specific player. If you are interested in being a ref, let me know. Only the official refs and announcers can disqualify people for cheating, and may keep track of ties. Right now, if you fall in 2 seconds after knocking out the last guy on your team, and you're the last player, it's a tie. Can you count to two? You are qualified to be a ref!

Can I change my skin?
The minor league players have all asked me this question. If you want to alter your skin, use SkinEdit, or ask me to do it. I don't really like the idea of people changing their skins, because the skins I have provided are official, but if you see someone who has already altered their skin, check it out. The changes are NOT huge. If you want to add your own piece of flair, it's cool. I have to approve it. Chances are, I won't say no, but please have the consideration to ask before changing my intellectual property.

Do I have to wear this 24/7?
No. It is only mandatory to wear it at game time, but if you want to wear it to show of your sportsmanship, then do it up!

What about the Major League skins?
At this time, Arterial238 is designing the major league skins. He submitted an idea to me that I approved. If you have suggestions, bring it up with him. He is looking for more feedback. He already knows what I want from him, so don't be let down if your idea is too radical for the skin and he says no. And yes, they are going to be epic. programs repeat functions without question. is my will my own or is it in my code?
