A minimized program closes automatically.

I have a new Windows XP Pro SP2 machine and have installed Word Perfect X3 on it.  When the Word Perfect is started many times it will open up and the program will disappear from the task bar and still be open on the screen.  When the program is minimized the program closes and you have to restart word perfect.  Tried a reboot and it did not work.
