According to the Mayo Clinic, mononucleosis is a virus and it is contagious - but less contagious than the common cold.

Mono can be contagious for up to two months, so avoid sharing food or drinks with an infected person. Some people will develop chronic mononucleosis, in which symptoms last for longer than six months. It is important to see a doctor if your mono persists for an unusually long time.

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

YES! highly infectious that is why you are not allowed to work in food industry if you are suffering from the symptoms.  Go to your doctor to double check!
