I'm not trying to get smart but to me the biggest relationship between a daughter and mother is trust! I feel like you should trust her more and not be so much in her business. It will only make her want to do things behind your back. If you give her space and privacy she will feel even better about coming to you about her issues and opening up to you.

I agree I feel the exact same way when someone reads my texts

I completely understand as a parent you want to know what your children talk about, but if you trust your child, you shouldn't have to read their text. I remember when I in my teen years and my mom used to check my phone; It only made me mad and feel as if she didn't trust me. I didn't talk about anything bad and for her to read my text thinking I was talking bad made me feel like my own mother couldn't trust me. I think it's almost an invade of privacy. And what you're worried about, it's only a smiley face. Sorry if I sound rude, I'm just telling you how your child would feel about this. Hope this helped  

Well, I am a mum and I trusted my daughter, that was until I randomly checked her phone etc and found she was stealing !! So much for trust.  If you care about your children you need to be ontop of what they are up to - they are children for christ sake !!!  This is why we are parents to parent them in the right direction..... We will always love our children no matter what and we are here to help them - We need to parent them and you will not understand this until you become one...
