What does  *^...  mean in a text message? Saw it on my teens phone and I'm curious?

Did you check the text before that ? It easily could have been a correction , as the star symbol is usually used for correcting mistakes from the text before, or when you are performing an action through the text.

Ex; Haga I see

*Haha I see

or

*Smiles and sits down*
