A kidney stone (urinary calculus) could cause pain in the back below the kidney.  It might be helpful to keep records of when you feel this pain and how long it lasts; a kidney stone is likely to give you repeated pain in the same area. That's not the only possible cause for your pain but your doctor might start with urine tests, and a urologist would probably want some kind of x-ray.
