Through the door?  He probably remembers being fed on the doorstep before and is looking for more food.  Through the window?  He probably saw his reflection and is looking to join his own kind.     ?????

Poor deer, lost his way..... doesn't mean anything more than that.   Once deers had endless grounds, today much of their habitat is occupied by cities and farms, no wonder that from time to time we meet them.   One day I found a snake on my property.  I asked the "snake-catcher", what is the reason the sanke came to my place ? - He said:  "Before you built your house it was his place (and his encestors) you took his place but the snake does not know that you became the owner and is simply looking for food.....

Either that or the deer had rabies.

The average deer can kick the average human's ass, so I suggest holding the door open for it and hoping it comes out.
