Marriage for Priests in the Catholic Church?

The Vatican has made it easier for Anglicans to keep their traditions, including married priests, when converting to Catholicism.  Do you think that -- like Anglican priests -- Catholic priests should be allowed to marry?

Sure, their already having sex.

They're human and time has proved they cannot resist breaking their vows anyway.  Would rather see them married than feel it in their heart and take it out in secrecy on the innocent.

Yes.  We probably would end up with a lot of better qualified priests and maybe a few less problems.

It's a step in the right direction.  Human beings were not meant to spend their lives alone.  Marriage is a normal part of life.  Having a spouse and a family does not make anyone less "Godly", rather it seriously enriches their lives.

There is no Biblical presidance stateing a priest cannot marry.

Nisi Dominus Frustra Without God, all iz frutless There iz no time kuntinuem in Heaven; so I'll see u in a minit

There is a lot to be said in favor of a celibate priesthood. I think it should be made optional.

Love one another.

Celibacy will eventually end. My main objection to it is that priests counsel people, often about sex and marriage and children. How can anyone who has not experienced those things give competent counsel? Celibacy is NOT a biblical precept. It was instituted by the church.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

This is an ordinance that the Catholic Church had never passed in the first place.  There is no scriptural value in it.  I agree with the other post that it will eliminate a lot of problems in this particular religion.  And bonestructure is certainly right to bring out the point, that priest deal with marriage and sex during counseling, how do they know something about marriage if they have never experienced it.  I think this is a wonderful blessing for the Priest, but I don't understand why it is the Pope who has to give them the rights.  Should that not be between the Priest and God?
