My mare acts like she has a bug up her back end ...

My mare acts like she has a bug up her back end, but only when it is warm outside. She will stand against the barn or fence and if I try to handle her or move her she acts like she will explode. She swishes her tail and tosses her head and sometimes will poke at her side with her mouth. I have tryed sand clear and she is on 2 ounces of horse guard. When this happens when I am riding her it is extremly dangerous so I have not been riding her. I only work her when its cooler out.

It's a little too esoteric for my knowledge of horses. I grew up with horses, mind you, but I don't recall any problems like that. I'd say it's time to call in the vet. Does she do this when she's not saddled?

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.
