He finds something in the woman he visits that he doesn't find in the woman he is married to.

There are several possible reasons: 
1.  He admires her wisdom. 
2.  he feels good being with her. 
3.  He likes her company. 
4.  he is hoping that something will develope (an afair ?). 
5.  He gets something that he does not have at home. 
6.  He suffers at home and wants a break. 
7.  He loves her. 
8.  She inspires him.

More than likely, the wife is no longer satisfying him.   Or caused her appearance to go to hell (fat, saggy, etc)
