Where is my "mail waiting to be sent"? I just upgraded and I can't find it. I can't even find a box labeled "mail waiting to be sent"!

I typed an extensive email message and it went into the "mail waiting to be sent" box.  How can I recover that email?  Please advise.  thanks.
