Long barreled versus short barreled guns

I have a couple of friends that insist that long barreled shotguns shoot further than short barreled shotguns with both guns using the same ammunition & have the same "choke". Can you elaborate? One of them insists that long barreled rifles shoot further that carbine type rifles using identical ammunition. Can you elaborate?

Long barreled shot guns offer better lead time if you are shooting targets, but do not shoot any further.

if you use the same ammo--> you get the same distance

because the ballistic traveles more if you give it more pressure at first therefore more powder leading to a larger casing (diff. ammo)

so no matter the barrel's length, the shot's distance is a matter of powder.
