Hia pal...What you are asking for there is a difficult one as there are so, so many different types of Rock. I myself have been into Rock since i was at school, and even have Rock...till death us do part...tattood on my left leg, however my type of Rock is contemp such as Rainbow, Whitesnake, Meatloaf ect. Other Rock includes Indie, Heavy, Industrial, soft...the list is endless ans the amount of groupps out there who class themselves as Rock bands list from Oasis to Motorhead...which are worlds apart.

Anyway...if you type into your browser....google.books.com, which is an online book search, you can view thousands of books online. If you view something like the guinness book of hit singles or albums, you will be able to see thousands of groups who have made impacts on the british and american charts.......loads of info for you to sift through....hope this helps
