Hi Amit,
Nice video, tnx. When the lioness is on heat they mate many many times (every 1/2 hour for 4 days..... only sex, without feeding).... each mate is dissapointingly short (takes some 45 seconds)... Normally a lioness can be on heat twice a year (can be more..... e.g: a new lion becomes the leader he'll kill all cubs and by that forces the females to get on heat).

The mating activity generally lasts for about four days. Copulation lasts about 30-70 seconds and is repeated once every 25 minutes during the four day period.

Mating usually takes place twice a year, though new males in a pride usually try to induce ovulation so as to make sure it is their offsprings that are born rather than predecessing males. Actually new males sometimes even devour new borns, and induce abortion of the females for the same reason.
