it could be good. Depends on what you follow it with. A powerful statement like that needs a lot of backup.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

It certainly gets my attention. It makes me wonder if it was the upper of lower half.

As an avid reader, I have read some wonderful books that I put down umpteen times because the beginning was so crappy. I like the author and was persistent; and was rewarded.

I have never read Clive Cussler. I tried once. It was a good beginning, but the story just didn't appeal to me.

So what am I saying? It is not the first sentence. It is the first paragraph, the first page, the first chapter. It is the title. It is the book cover. Don't fail to see the forest because you have fixed your eyes on the leaf.

Sounds like a beginning that makes your readers curious. Keep it up and like they say, always back that statement up with a good story behind it. :)

Do you have a book already in progress? When I meet an author with a great book concept, one who’s definitely the right person to write that book, right away I’ll often encourage him or her to self-publish. This is because I know that an author is thoroughly invested in what they have to say. Your publisher can help you determine the genre if you like.And this is your book - no one should tell you what to do. Good luck :)
