A lifeguard in South Florida helps to save a man's life and as a reward he is fired for "leaving his area". If he had stayed in his area and let the guy drown, he'd still have his job.

IMO, he should be promoted and the moron who fired him should be demoted to cleaning toilets.

I too was in shock when I heard what they did to the lifesaving lifeguard.... Unbelievable!

That was sad.  And that is the reason why people do not like to get involved.  Your either fired or sued. 

Years ago I took a course with the Red Cross in saving lifes.  In mouth to mouth resisitation, if you blow a little too much air it goes into the stomach and causes stomach problem.  That person will live but then they can sue you for their stomach problems.  Of course they never win because their lives were saved and it was not intentional, but who needs the headache? 

After my certification expired, I never went back. 

That was many years ago.  I hope things have changed since then.
