Let's talk about the Middle East, it is the the title subject after all

Say it aint so Joe. I'd never noticed but will take your word for it, so since this is a subject of interest to you, why not be the first to post a question and see where it goes. There are quite a number of opinionated people here and I'd be suprised if this wasn't an item of interest.

I believe many people are interested in this topic and are eager to speak about it. I don't know why this is such a taboo for people.

Joe,  I've seen so many posts and links regarding the middle east right here on Yetta.  Especially the Israeli and so called Palestinian situation.  BUT, if you'd ask me how to find them or how to 'get to it' I  couldn't tell you as it seems as I age I'm losing my ability to 'remember how to get there' or 'how I did it before'!  This old woman has followed the situation for decades and for those who blame the Israelis....bull crap....!  So many good deals were offered these so called Palestinians and each time, no matter how good, the proposals have been turned down.  During Clintons terms great inroads were made, the Pales were offered a great deal..but because of the Israeli holding back  only 10% of an area...they refused to deal.  In my opinion, be that what it may, I don't think these Arab Muslim castoffs want Israel to exist at all.  If they are given their own state/land/nation they will just continue to  build up their weapons/terrorists etc. until they feel they are strong enough to 'push Israel into the sea".....and this from a Christian, but a lapsed one.

Thank You Navancamp.  Now we are talking.  Yes , many people have strong opinion regarding the West Bank, Gaza and what to do with the situation.  Israel has offered everything you could offer a friendly neighbor but as you said, theses : neighbors, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria are intent in seeing Israel's destruction.  Many of the Palestinians have come to the west bank because they were literally kicked out of their home nations , such as : Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and others.  When the British held Israel ( then referred to as Palestine ( from Palaestina), going back to the time of the Roman occupation which the Romans tagged the area; a mockery of the the name Philistines, an arch rival of Israel from the time of Joshua to King David, Solomon,etc. ( Israel)  in 70 A.D. after they torched Jerusalem and other towns in Israel and ran off the remaining or surviving Jews, creating the Diaspora OR ( Dispersion)  and including events such as the Masada Mass suicide in which many Jews , rather than live under Roman tyranny , the British had taken what was called Palestine from the Ottomans Turks. During this period, many Jews fought with Britain protecting the region and fighting Arab groups, forming groups such as the Palmach, Haganah and splinter groups of Jewish fighters.

    Then , during the period in which the British colonized the total Arab Region ( Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine (ISRAEL) , Egypt and then entered world war 1 with Germany when they controlled the Suez canal and Fought the Germans for northern Africa and Egypt again and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem ( Yassar Arafat's Uncle) was in league with the Nazis and liked the idea of exterminating Jews, The War Finally ended with Britain in total control. 

     Then to add insult to injury, the British under Churchill and others , including the  United States began refusing entry or :very Limited entry to the already Zionist movement that had began in the late 1800s through the thirties, and many sinister events starting taking place , such as sinking of ships carrying Jews trying to make it to Israel or sending many to Concentration camps on Cyprus and Mauritius and other places.  This happened after the Holocaust of the Nazis under Hitler. 

    Many things need to be studied, because it gets very involved.  But , basically the newly formed U.N. voted for the partition of Jewish territory and what was then Trans Jordan (west bank) in 1947.  This mainly happened because of the mass slaughter of millions of Jews in the Forties and so the final vote ( which by the way Britain voted against) stated that Israelis could remain and move to what was partitioned for the Jewish population.  Immediately, the Arabs went to war with Israel and many Jordan in particular fought the Jews continually.  Eventually, Israel took control of everything except the west bank and the Sinai and the Golan region.

    In 1967 Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon among others went to war with Israel, known as the six day war because it was over and Israel was victorious.  At that time, Israel gained back control of their homeland from the time of King David : Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, the Sinai peninsula and for a time took control of the Suez canal.

     In 1973 the Same thing happened.  The same countries went to war with Israel ( the Yom Kippur war) and agian Israel was victorious.

      Since the Yom Kippur War many people believe that Israel stole land from Arab People.  It was never there's.  It was promised to the Jewish people from the time of Moses, i.e "The Promised Land".  But, ever since this war the Arabs have began fighting Israel with words, false accusations , Intifadas , terroist attacks, the Hezbollah and Hamas fighting from Lebanon and the Gaza Strip all the while being financed from the Arab states.

     The world doesn't want Jewish people to have a homeland or their rightfully given territory given  to them by God Himself.  Now , in the present, the U.S., Britain, Europe, the whole Arab world wants Israel gone or at the very least sliced and diced into the size of Half of Rhode Island.

      The point is, Israel in the Bible , from the very mouth of God through His prophets were promised a second return to the land after two thousand years of being dispersed.   America can't except this, for some sinister reason.  Iran wants to destroy Israel by Nukes or using Hezbollah again from Lebanon,Syria and I think Jordan. 

      Every American who calls themselves Christians should always stand firm with Israel and admit that without Israel, many of the things that made America strong and victorious ( like the invention of the Atomic Bomb for instance) and numerous amazing technological advances like Computer and mobile phone inventions among thousands of others like drip irrigation advances to water the desert, etc. 

      Although the Atomic bomb was and is evil in being nice and all that, it saved many Jews at a time I believe the world was ready to finish them off.

      But Israel has their Bombs to protect themselves against many enemies and I thank God for His Gift to the Jew.  We have to be realistic about these matters and Israel needed an equalizer so to speak.  They can't be bullied, although the world will come in great force against Israel as predicted in the Bible, creating the Gog and magog War and culminating in the war of the whole world fighting against eventually God Himself.  Yes , Jesus will return to put an end to the world's time of tribulation ( Great Pressure) and behold , he will make all things new.  The time line has been challenged and debated by millions but the point is , it will happen.  Israel will be challenged by the world and this will happen at the time of Jesus' return .  Come quickly Jesus.

I'll tell you what one of the big problems is on both sides: the average person is so sick and tired of this conflict and hearing nothing but talk coming from the so called leaders with no end in sight. Until you get leaders that are willing to sit down face to face and make tough decisions life will continue like this for years to come.
