Discuss Anonymous's answer to: Legitimate or phishing?

I received an e-mail from "Security Department #481 <marsi8@aol.com>" requesting confirmation of contact information. How do I know if this is legitimate or phishing?

If you need to ask, you are a victim just waiting to get scammed.

Predictable.

Seeing as how when I signed onto AOL from my own link (not the email) to post this question the same info was requested by AOL before I could continue. At issue is if AOL truly requires this info how can they differentiate their request from phishing attempts.

They never do that to me when I sign on. They must have noticed suspicious activity coming from your account.
