Answers

According to U.S. child possession laws, a legal guardian is someone who has legal authority to care for the property and personal interests of another person, usually referred to as their 'ward'. Typically, the guardian's ward is unable to care for their own interests due to age, disability, or some other circumstance that renders them incapacitated. In most states, the parents of a minor are automatically the child's guardians, and can specify another person or persons to become the child's guardian in the event the parents should pass away. If someone has full custody of a child, this means they are responsible for making major medical, educational, and religious decisions for them, and often provide housing and resources for the child for more than half of the year.
