In the U S A, it's the tire on the drivers side of the vehicle closest to the front.  The front is the part that has a windshield directly in front of your face.  You look through it when sitting in the seat.  That applies to automobiles, trucks, and buses.  If it's a rubber tire buggy, the front is where the horse(s) attach by means of a harness.
