How about recording yourself talking about your experiences? Then you can transcribe your speech from the recording, pausing the tape when needed to edit yourself.

Can you be a little more specific about your goals in learning this skill? What are you going to do with what you learn and how do you want to use the speeches you plan to write? Do you want to speak to clubs, organizations, churches, etc.? Or are you wanting to write a book for publication? If so, what publication(s)? Perhaps you just want to write a journal for your family and friends? Do you see what I mean? I am a writer and also a public speaker, so please provide more information and I will see if I can help you.
