Best laptop for school and gaming?

I take very good care of my laptop (it is totally clear of viruses and junk), but I've had it for over 4 years and it works at a snail's pace. If it works... So I was thinking about getting a new computer. I need to do school work like Microsoft programs, Photoshop, etc. I also want to start playing PC games (I've never done it before) on my computer like World of Warcraft and Team Fortress 2. So what is the best choice. If it is under $1000 or even $900 I would be happy. Also if you have any ideas what I can do to fix my old Dell Inspiron 1525 so that it can do all of what I listed and work at a good speed, I would be happy. Be specific on details, and thank you so much for your help. :D Also should I not get a laptop in the first place and just get a PC? Does it even make a difference?

The slowness of your old laptop is because of the outdated configuration of your laptop. Buying new one will be good idea and keeping in mind your requirements there are many online stores which provide laptop deals and give you option to compare different brands of laptops with configuration.
