Langtang Classical Trek offers spectacular views of the high Himalaya, stretching for a distance of 150km. Possible distant views of the Annapurna range to the west, the closer snow covered giant of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Shisha Pangma (8046m) to the north in Tibet and Langpo Ghang (6979) are just a few high points.  Bamboo, rhododendron and pine forests abound and host a wide variety of animal and bird life (including shy red pandas). Lngtang valley trekking is rich in flowers, particularly in the monsoon season, although epiphytic orchards and other flowers bloom at different times. Rushing rivers, waterfalls flowing over mammoth boulders and the holy Gosainkund lake are special features of this trek.

The mountainous bus ride form Kathmandu winds over the Middle Hill ridges to the Trisuli Nadi, an important river, and then follows it upstream to Dhunche. On the up-route we will visit a traditional cheese factory: the produce manufactured by hand. The second afternoon, at Shin Gompa, you will relish your first full views of the towering, snow-covered Ganesh Himal (7600m) and Langtang Himal with Langtang Lirung (7227m). On the fourth afternoon you will reach the beautiful and holy Gosainkund lakes, revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. Thereafter, the altitude gradually drops as you descend through terraced rice paddies and several villages with splendid monasteries.

Langtang Gosaikund region offers a wide range of ethnic encounters. The Sherpas are believed to have migrated to Nepal from Tibet in the 10th to 12th centuries. In the Helambu region they have their own dialect, distinct from those in the Solu and Khumbu regions. Their religion is closely allied to that of Tibet. The Tamangs are also from Tibet (12th – 14th centuries) and speak a Tibeto-Burman language. They practice a modified version of Tibetan Buddhism. Autumn and Spring are best season to hike to Langtang trek, though Mountain Mart Trek-adventure team make it happen round the year
