What is Landmark Publish or LPG?

LPG aka Landmark Publish aka Landmark Publish Grp...does anyone know if they are also a collection agency or something similar?  My mother (88 yrs. old) has money automatically taken from her checking account from this company two to three times per month (same amount each ACH Debit).  She has absolutely no idea why or who this company is.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

 This company sales books on how to publish your own book or art  and get a grant to do this.But they sale this as a service with a monthly charge.My 70 year old  monther-inlaw ordered this though mail order about a year ago. And canceled it as soonn as she relized what it was.

They have contuined to take $19.95 from her bank account every month.She has lost their address and phone number after all this time.

Ive had her put a stop payment on the checks. That cost her $25 every 6 months but its cheeper.

I live near memphis tn. A tv chanel 3 there has a thing called on your side that looks into main order scams and that sort of thing. Ive sent them an e-mail about this and maybe they will do some research on it come up with a way to stop  these people from takeing advantage of the ederly.

If i hear back from them ill let you know.

Untill then id just put a stop payment on the checks as often as your bank requiers.

Thank you, rusted, for your answer.  I had found out some information but you provided the answer as to how this scam company got to my mothers bank account (same as what your mother-in-law did). 

The bank told me that when a stop payment is put on this company, they get around it by changing certain numbering codes so that the auto debit slips through and they get their money.  I had my mother close out her checking account and open another so hopefully that will stop this from happening again.  Maybe you could give that a try with your mother-in-law? 

Another thing is to maybe through her bank, file a fraud claim so that the bank then has to investigate.  That might be helpful.

We've just noticed this same activity on my late sister-in-laws checking acoount also.  Any information that you may have come up with since the posting would be appreciated.

My 77 year old dad also has money taken out of checking account 2-3 times a month in the amount of $19.95. My thinking is that they are a scam, prey on older people. Does anyone have a telephone number for them. t

it is a company that sells professional grant writing books for 69.95 then that start taking 19.95 a month after that for their help with grant writing their number is 1-800-989-3395  their address is american benefit services  7350 south tamiami trail ste-155    sarasota,fla  34231   we just made the mistake of calling and getting the book now 30 days later they have took 19.95 we didn't know about out of our account
