Knit and crochet afghans

Can knitted blocks and crocheted blocks be combined in one single afghan?

Yes.  There is a way to sew them together with yarn  but I never really figured it out.

I like to crochet them together working in every other stitch on each square.  As long as they have the same # of stitches it works well.  Have sold lots w/ afghans made this way.  They actually look nicer and hold up better for longer time than sewing.

Sure.  I think it would make for a more interesting afghan.  It can be done two different ways I can think of.  The first would be checking your guage to make sure that the squares come out equal.  The second way would be putting it together as you would a jig puzzle, your goal being to make the edges straight.  Either way I would suggest sewing the squares together with a compatible yarn vs crocheting it together as you would with most afghans.  Good luck

There's no reason not to, as I see it.  Just be sure the squares fit pretty well but a little fudging is acceptable.  For that reason, maybe sewing rather than crocheting them together would be best.  The contrast in texture would make for a very interesting afghan.

Yes they can. Size of the blocks must be similar. I recently saw an afghan with each block knit by a different person (and in a different gages) that was put together by crocheting the blocks together. Some of the blocks had to have a crochet border to  get them to size.  Try this trick if blocking doesn't do the job.  Blocking will only do so much.

I've never tried it but I don't see why not. Think it would make a really unique afghan.
