Kids and Cell Phones?

Your child is 11 years old? Then why in the world would you not know where she is?

If she goes to a friend's house to play, then she is to call you before she goes somewhere else. Simple. If she has cheerleading practice after school, she should call you when she arrives home to let you know she got there. Again, fairly simple.

As far as kids having their own cell phones? When they drive their own cars and are old enough to pay the bills. And if they're driving their own cars, then they damn well ought to have their own money ~ which means they should be paying for their own cars as well as their phones!

11 years old is a little bit too young to own a cell phone.  However, the age of kids using technology is getting younger & younger. 

I personally got a cell phone when I was 17 years old.  I bought a cell phone with my own will power without my parents knowing.  I eventually got caught & my parents were actually proud that I've took the initiative to get one. 

This argument can go both ways.  Why is it so wrong for an 11 year old kid to own a cell phone?  I wouldn't recommend getting your kid a $500 cell phone, but as long as it's free, what can you lose?

i got my first cell phone when i was 6. i am now 11 and i have the droid. i think you should get her a cell phone because it is important for a kid to have a social life. i do text constantly though :)

For me 10 or 11 years old is an appropriate age of a kid to have a cellphone.

Depending on the situation..it is a different world today and having a cell phone that has emergency use only is a comfortable feeling for anyone. The phone does not have to have 24/7 communication available open to the world..how about just parents # for safety precautions? Both indivuals will feel better.
