I know that orange juice can be harmful to a sensitive stomach due to the acid that is in it.  However, I have read that orange juice actually prevents kidney problems... and prevents kidney stones, along with lemonade.  It's interesting that it's harmful once you have stomach problems, but as a preventative measure, it's a good thing.

The most common reason is that it is high in potassium - and this can cause difficulties if your kidneys are not working well.

I'm a medic with a special interest in <a href="" rel="nofollow" cl="http://www.bloodpressurehigh.com/" class="comlink">Blood Pressure Treatment</a> with a particular focus on low blood pressure symptoms and treatment . <a href="" rel="nofollow" cl="http://www.treatment-for.com" class="comlink">Treatment for shoulder pain </a> and joint pain also takes up most of my working day.

I agree with gc4321, my father has kidney problems too and in fact is undergoing dialysis now. The doctor told me that green leafy vegetables should be put in water for four hours, so as to remove the potassium substance. Also, I think if anyone has kidney problems and is undergoing dialysis, food debris that will stuck the to kidney should be avoided. I believe that once undergoing dialysis it can hurt more.

Take care!

Orange juice contains a very high amount of potassium. Since the kidneys are the organs that filter out potassium, high potassium foods should be avoided, as an overload of potassium in the body can cause toxicity. An overload of potassium can cause many problems. However, potassium usually does not need to be completely eliminated from consumption. If this is a question regarding your own kidney problems, you should ask your doctor.

When everyone is against you, it means that you are absolutely wrong-- or absolutely right.

I know this answer for sure! My Dad had to be on dialisis and the potassium in foods like potatoes, which needed soaked in water to get the potas. out, and orange juice have to much of this vitamin and the kidneys can't take it if they're having a problem.
