Is your Kestner #237 a vintage doll or a reproduction? Reproductions of the original styles are common.

Newer Kestner #237 dolls still sell on eBay for several hundred dollars or more. If it's an older Kestner is could be worth substantially more. Your description sounds similar to this one http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/5160067 which sold at Morphy auctions a few years back for over $1,000. I think its worth contacting a doll expert on this one.

I think its vintage the em-print on the back of neck is JDK #237. and I have had it over 20 years.
