Why did Katie resort to absolutes and just assume that I "would tick off the Native Americans like no other?"

(I CAN'T BREAK LINES FOR SOME REASON!)

Why did Katie resort to absolutes and just assume that I "would tick off the Native Americans like no other" if I made the plot of a story involve a Native American spirit summoned from their grave, to cast a spell on a child?

I've seen how a Romanian village of Glod was depicted in the filming of "Borat." That ticked off the villagers pretty well. If anyone did that to a Native American village, THAT would tick them off like no other.

So why would Katie assume the worst about something that is comparatively small potatoes?

Well, as a professional writer, who happens to BE a native American, sounds like a good idea for a story to me. What you want are two-hearts, skinwalkers, the evil native witches.

Look, we're not an idea holy, pure race of people with mythical goodness. Powers, yes. More noble than most, yes. But human. We had good folks, great folks, and bad and evil folks, just like all humans. We sorta get tired of people portraying us as noble savages. After all, it was the white folks that invaded our country that acted like savages.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.
