The military and law enforcement agencies do require psychological profiles of entering members. While not extensive, they do tend to weed out people who really aren't right for the jobs. Further than that, I don't know for the military, but the law enforcement agencies provide and insist on psychological counseling after serious events like shooting a suspect, self defense or not. I, personally, am quite glad for that. It's always seemed to me that law enforcement would be damn near a perfect job for a serial killer.
