Is joining a warehouse club a good deal when it comes to saving money when buying food, etc.?
If all the savings, cost for car fuel are greater than the fee to join youmade a good deal.
If you have a large family and typically buy in bulk, sure. Otherwise, it often works out to cost the same as buying in a regular store, if not more.
You have to know prices and you have to be able to use what you buy before it goes bad. It doesn't do you any good to buy three dozen eggs for five dollars if two dozen turn rotten before you can use them.
And really, how much of that stuff do you actually use? Take mayonnaise, for instance. One jar can last months (or more) at our house; buying a bundled group of four (or more) jars at a time doesn't save me any money whatsoever because I'll never be able to use it up before I die.
Proceed with caution. Your wallet will thank you.
I agree . It depends on the size of your family and how quick you can use the giant super sized items . My sister in laws and I shop together and split the items which does help . But you have to watch what you buy and know the prices before hand . Just as with anything ....... buyer beware .
Comparison shopping can be cheaper. Example: My brother buys 4-packs of solid white tuna at the warehouse store for $4.25. I buy it at a regular grocery store-when it goes on sale-for 89 cents a can. (17 cents per can less)
