Waitresses usually make a bunch more money than hostesses.  So if I have a friend who got hired as a hostess, what advice can I give her to help her get "promoted" to waitress?

I think that you should encourage your friend to speak to the owner of the restaurant she works for, so that she can express her interest in becomming a server.  Some restaurants have a training period, or require some sort of class before starting.  It's possible that while being a server for a while, she could start to learn what she needs to know to start serving.  It's important to show this interest and to ask what it is that she needs to do to get a job as a server.  Good luck.

I wouldn't wanna be in a club that wouldn't let me in...
