Has there been an increase in people relocating for their career over the past few years and if so, why do think this is-a chance at a new experience or a change to take their career to the next level?

It depends on what type of work it is...

There is definitely a  surge of manufacturing jobs being moved to the southeast because of the lower cost in labor of that area

With the paucity of jobs Nationwide; people are relocating to find the jobs that do exist.  This shows motivation on the part of the people who do move to other locales.
