Discuss JVH's answer to: Why did the Jews kill Jesus?

Why did the Jews kill Jesus?

John 11:48-50 shows the religious leaders motivation.  They felt Jesus' condemnation and preaching threatened their positons of power.

It was them that broke the law, not Jesus.  They held an illegal trial, used false witnesses and the like.  Jesus died at the hand of the Romans but at the instigation of the Jewish religous leaders.
