If a Jew gets baptized to be a christian is he still a jew?

according to jewish religion no, i think

when i was in school we learned about a case when a priest who was born to a jewish mother, and therefore considered a jew, became a christian priest, and thus relinquished judaism, when tried to migrate to israel claiming he was a jew

He was denied entry to israel on the basis of him being a jew, because he became catholic priest

even though by birth he was a jew

People always tell me being jewish is just a faith, like being catholic or protestant. If that's the case, why didn't all the jewish people , to avoid all the trouble under Hitler, get baptized to be Christians? Gerda

Because hitler didn't care if they got baptized or not. To him and his followers you were not jewish only by religion, you were also jewish because you were born to a jewish family. He went back 3 generations to prove one was jewish, regardless of his current faith
